Our Year Long Activities

It was indeed a matter of great satisfaction to all of us at REEDS when we were reviewing our year long activities at the AGB meeting.

Our activities during the year have been in the areas of Safe Drinking Water; Community Awareness & Education; Evaluation Studies; and the most precious aspect, of course, has been organizing a prestigious international conference on ‘Life and Livelihood Skills Development’. You may have a look at the detailed Annual Report on our website.

International Cooperation in Skills Development

On this front, it is heartening to note that some of the deliberations among the international delegates at the recently concluded Asia Pacific International Educational Forum in Australia are evolving into possible cooperation among their respective organizations. This is an encouraging step forward in building up viable partnerships in VET sector in Asia Pacific.

Similarly, post APIEF and ACPET conference, we notice a very good deal of enthusiasm among many ACPET members to jointly explore and develop models that would be mutual benefit while addressing this very crucial and challenging Indian Vocational Training and Skills Development needs. We are continuing our engagement with ACPET to facilitate these expressions of interest actionable.

My sincere tributes to the former President of India and great philosopher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on the eve of the Teacher’s Day that is celebrated on 5 September, i.e. his birthday. Personally, I would like to take this opportunity to remember my own teachers who introduced me to life and its meaning.

Hope you have had a gleeful Ganesh Chaturdi and the harvest festival of Onam, the embodiment of wisdom and prosperity.

Best wishes and greetings on the auspicious occasion of the forthcoming festivals of Dussehra and Diwali both of which symbolizes the victory of good over evil.

humanity and spark global change. The EHP is a very impressive and innovative social entrepreneurial idea of providing with clean drinking water, medicines, comprehensive diagnostic tools, and tele-medical services at rural locations. It is indeed a futuristic model of healthcare reaching-out to the low-income groups! My congratulations to Mr. Amit Jain, CEO of [EHP].

Incidentally, for helping to harness technologies to empower the communities, Nileema Mishra, who works with the poorest villagers in Maharashtra and Harish Hande, who revolutionized the use of solar lights were honored with Magsaysay Award 2011, often described as 'Asia's Nobel prize', announced last month.
